Kathy Jo Mattingly Kidwell was born Aug. 14, 1978.

She began her education at New Haven Elementary School and continued to Nelson County High School. She was very involved with school activities. She was a teen leader in 4-H and was in the color guard with the Nelson County Band of Pride. She was also a member of the National Honor Society and Who’s Who.

Kathy was a member of Sigma Kappa sorority at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in conflict management. She became a member of Sigma Beta Delta sorority at Sullivan University in Louisville and obtained her master’s degree in conflict management as well as in business management. She also completed the Dale Carnegie course.

Kathy believed everyone should work at obtaining and continuing his or her education and lived out that belief by continuing her own education throughout her adult life.

Kathy was suddenly and unexpectedly taken by a brain aneurysm on March 31, 2014, an event that was not only a loss to her family and friends but to society as a whole. The world is a lesser place without Kathy.
